• Biography & Research Interests
Esteve Almirall holds a PhD in Management Sciences (ESADE), a MRes in Management Scienes, a MCIS, DEA and MRes in Artificial Intelligence (UPC). Moreover, Esteve has an MBA, a PDD from IESE a Diploma in Marketing from UC Berkeley and a GCPCL Diploma from Harvard B.S. His interests focus on Open Innovation, Innovation and artificial intelligence I tools that could foster innovation. He has published in various journals and conferences such as Academy of Management Review.
Most of his career has been devoted to Information Technologies, especially in consulting, banking and finances where he worked for more than 20 years in executive and board level positions in Information System, Organization and Marketing. As an entrepreneur he actively participated and founded several start-ups in the field. Esteve participated and coordinated a number of research projects around Innovation, Collaborative Environments, Social Networking and Recommender Systems. Now he is the coordinator of the European Open Cities project at the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Management at ESADE.

Eduard Bonet, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Eduard Bonet is Emeritus Professor at ESADE-URL. He has served as Vice-Rector of this university (1999-2002), and was the founder and former director of the PhD Programme in Management Sciences at ESADE. Although his interests cover a full array of topics, his current research areas are: Rhetoric and Science; Metaphors as Cognitive Models; Modes of Reasoning; Epistemology; Qualitative Research, and; Narratives in Management Research.
Eduard is one of the founders of EDAMBA (European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration) of which he is currently the President. He is also one of the founders of EUDOKMA (European Doctoral School on Knowledge and Management) and participates in many of its seminars in Copenhagen, Henley and Kingston.
Eduard holds a PhD in Mathematics from Universitat de Barcelona. He is a member of the International Statistical Institute and has previously served as General Director of Statistics for the Autonomous Regional Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya).

Elena Bou, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Elena Bou is the Director of the GRACO Research Group. She is the Director of the Executive Master in Operations at ESADE and Associate Professor in the Operations and Innovation Department at ESADE-URL. Her research interests cover the following areas: Knowledge and Learning in Organisations; Expertise and Practice-Based Studies; Knowledge-Intensive Firms and Professional Services, and; Service Management.
Since graduating she has worked as a consultant in the implementation of quality systems and organisational change in different types of companies, in private and public organisations and within a European context (Spain, Germany and England). She has carried out different research projects including the coordination of the European Research ESPRIT Project: “Performance Measurement System for Total Quality Management”, and more recently the study on knowledge dynamics within organisational and professional practice. She holds a European PhD in Management Sciences from ESADE-URL, and a BBA and an MBA from ESADE.

Henry  Chesbrough, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Henry Chesbrough is the Executive Director of the Center for Open Innovation at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Before, he was an assistant professor of business administration, and the Class of 1961 Fellow at the Harvard Business School. He has a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of California-Berkeley, an MBA from Stanford University, and a BA from Yale University, summa cum laude. His research focuses on managing technology and innovation. He is well known for his works on open innovation among academics and practitioners.
Henry has recently joint ESADE business School, as a part-time professor. He also is a member of the institute of Innovation and Knowledge Management at ESADE.

François Collet, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
François has been working on social networks and inter-organisational mobility. He is currently investigating the relationship between inter-organisational social networks and the demography of entrepreneurial ventures.
In his doctoral thesis he examined how reliance on status in selecting alliance partners varies according to the seekers attributes in the global software industry.
He has also investigated the notion of intuitive or habitual action comparing the approaches of two important theorists: Herbert Alexander Simon in economics/cognitive psychology and Pierre Bourdieu in sociology.

 

Margarida Romero, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Margarida Romero holds an European Ph.D in Psychology in Spain (UAB) and France (UTM CNRS), and MRes in Educational Engineering (UM, France) and MRes in Educational Psychology (UAB). She is the associate director of e-learning in the Direction of Educational Innovation and Academic Quality of Esade (DIPQA) and associate professor of Psychology at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.
Most of her career has been devoted to e-learning and blended learning projects, in professional, academic and research settings. Her research is focused on the study of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) from a learner centered perspective. Within the CSCL context, her current focus is the study of the time factor in self and co-regulated CSCL contexts. In particular, she is interested in how students, in long-term collective learning tasks, perceive, allocate and regulate their learning times at the individual and group level. She is the lead researcher and coordinator of the FP7 Marie Curie IAPP Euro-CAT-CSCL, and is participating in other European projects in Game Based Learning (GaLA) and CSCL (CoCreat).

 

Alfons Sauquet, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Alfons Sauquet is Dean of ESADE Business School, former Vice-Dean for Research and Knowledge at ESADE and Professor in the Department of Human Resource Management of URL at ESADE. His research interests cover: Knowledge and Learning in Organisations; Teamwork and Team Learning, and; Organisational Behaviour and Expertise. He has lectured at HEC Paris, Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and Wharton School of Business in addition to being Visiting Professor at the Copenhagen Business School. He has been CEMS Chairman of the Interfaculty Group in Organisational Behaviour and Adviser on Educational Quality Programmes for the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) and for Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien.
He has been a consultant to various organisations and currently provides consultancy to the United Nations Development Programme Agency. He holds a Ed.D in Education and an MA in Organisational Psychology from Columbia University, New York. He also has an MBA from ESADE and a Philosophy degree from the University of Barcelona. He serves in the Board of GMAC and in the Board of Creapolis (Innovation Park). And he is founding member of the Innovation Board of Science Business.

 

Tricia Smith, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Tricia holds a PhD from ESADE-URL in Management Sciences and an M.Sc in Applied Linguistics from Edinburgh University. She is currently working on the design and delivery of academic and corporate communications programmes for PhD and Master’s students, specializing in writing for publication in English for communication in management. She is a leading member of the CEMS(Community of European Management Schools) Languages Group and in charge of English proficiency assessment for CEMS.
Her research currently focuses on in-company written discourse and emerging written management genres. She is a visiting lecturer at the Vienna Business School. (WUW) and has given numerous lectures and conferences throughout Europe on the relationship between languages and management effectiveness. She is the author of “Market Leader – Business Law” by Longman.

 
John-Christopher Spender, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
JC Spender holds several visiting positions including the Fulbright Visiting Chair in the Management of Knowledge-Based Enterprises at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada, and the Svenska Handelsbanken Visiting Chair of Knowledge Management at Lund University, Sweden. He also holds Visiting Professorships at ESADE, the Cranfield School of Management, and the Open University and Leeds University Business Schools.
His degrees include a BA and an MA in Engineering Honors from Oxford and a Ph.D. in Corporate Strategy from the Manchester Business School, which thesis won the Academy of Management’s AT Kearney Prize in 1980. He was also recently awarded, jointly with Rob Grant (Georgetown U), the 2006 Strategic Management Society’s Best SMJ Paper prize for the Winter 1996 Special Issue on Knowledge Management. He has published widely; several books, and many journal articles and book chapters.

 

Silviya Svejenova, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Silviya’s research examines organizing, management, and careers in the creative industries, from film and architecture, to haute cuisine and art, with focus on authenticity, category creation, institutional entrepreneurship, and business models. She also studies executive action and careers. Her co-authored book Sharing Executive Power (Cambridge University Press, 2005) has been Academy of Management’s Terry Book Award finalist for the best book in management for 2005-2006.
Silviya has been a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and Harvard Business School, and Lecturer at Cranfield School of Management, UK. She has taught on executive education programs for companies in Germany, France, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, and United Kingdom. She holds a PhD in Management from IESE Business School.
Silviya is a member of the Board of EGOS (European Group for Organizational Studies) and the International Research Advisory Board of Imagine, the Creative Industries Research Centre at the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

Wim VanHaverbeke, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Wim Vanhaverbeke studied philosophy and economics at the Catholic University of Leuven and obtained a DBA at the IESE-business school in Barcelona in 1995. He is currently Professor Strategy & Organisation at the Hasselt University (Belgium) in the Department of Business Studies and is appointed as visiting professor “Open innovation” at ESADE (Spain) and the Vlerick Leuven Gent School of Mangement (Belgium).
His research focuses on Alliance development applied social economics, new business development and corporate venturing, open innovation, and social capital.
Wim has recently joint the institute of innovation and knowledge management at ESADE business school.

Jonathan Wareham, Ph.D.

• Biography & Research Interests
Jonathan Wareham is a Professor of Information Systems at ESADE – Ramon Llull University. Dr. Wareham’s research has been published or forthcoming in over 70 refereed journals and proceedings as MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, IEEE Computer, Journal of Medical Internet Research, Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, International Journal of Medical Informatics and numerous others.
He has held/holds editorial positions at Information Systems Research, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of the Association for Information Systems and is the General Conference Chair of the 20th European Conference on Information Systems – ECIS 2012.
He currently serves as Vice Dean of Research at ESADE as well as on advisory boards for a number of academic institutions, NGOs, and social entrepreneurs.
